QUESTIONS BY MR GUINNESS
[OUR PARLIAMENTARY REPORTER.] WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr R. McKenzie, on behalf of the Hon. A. R. Guinness yesterday asked the Minister of Mines (1). Whether seeing the large number of buildings that are required to bo erected for the use of those engaged at the Point Elizabeth State coal mines he will increase the output of sawn timber from the Government mill or if necessary erect another sawmill so as to meet the demand for timber in the township. (2) Whether he will take into consideration tire advisability of calling for public tenders for all works that are let by tender at or in connection with the works at the Point Elizabeth State coal mine. Ho also asked the Premier on behalf of the member for Grey whether ho will when preparing the bill to amend the Old Age Pensions Act favorably consider the desirability of providing for the payment of pensions to persons who are incapacitated from work by accident or by permanent illness without requiring them to wait until they obtain the age of 65 years before they can draw a. pension. He asked the Postmaster-General whether he will provide a telegraph messenger and letter carrier for the town of Blackball.
