A private telegram states that the Premyslay, Concert Company had a great reception at Hokitika, there being numerous double encores. The annual ball in connection with tho Star of the West Lodge, U.A.0.D., hold in the Public Hall last evening,. was an unqualified success. Tho attendance was a record, no less than one hundred and five couples being present. The music, as supplied by Perotti’s orchestra, was firstrate, while the floor was in excellent order. Messrs Fass, Smith and McGrath proved efficient M.C.’s. The catering was in the hands of tho Victoria tea rooms, and left nothing to he desired, and Mr and Mrs Webb arc to bo heartily congratulated on the excellent manner in which they carried out this all-important portion of the arrangements.
