NOTES FROM RUNAGA.

(Our Own Correspondent.) A good deal of dissatisfaction exists among the residents of Kunanga at the laxity of tlie Government in not pushing on with tin; making of a dray road to connect thv' township with the mine to enable (lie residents to get coal from tho mine. The connecting of AVard street with the mine would he a .ureal convenience to the large number of people who are. living at the township. Should no slops he lakeu to rcuiedv this evil, an indignation meeting will he held The Grey County Council, who look over the roads iu'lhe Dunollic township' a short, time ago, are to ho commended for their push and ;U tent ion to this growin- district. They have lot a contract to make a dray road from the Seven Mile to the township. The Land Board, which has repeatedly through some of their officers, staled that wholesale cancellation of sections would take place here, through noncompliance with the improvement clause, apparently are satislied with the condition of things. There are largo numbers of sections here with trees standing on them, although ! they have been leased for the past two years, whilst others have built houses abutting these sections with trees growing all round I hem—a positive danger to life and property. The Board should cancel these sections at once ill order to allow legitimate residents to obtain suitable sections. Although it. is well known that Government withdrew a large number of sections from sale a short time- ago in the Village Settlement, preliminary arrangements are in progress, and it is probable that about twenty workmen's dwellings will be erected on' this land, which is in close proximity to the Runanga Railway Station. If this' news is correct, it will be hailed with pleasure by a large number, who _ are anxious to settle here with their families, but are at present unable to do so on account of no houses being available. The various ministers, who preach hero on Sunday afternoons, having obtained the use of the State school, on and after Sunday will hold their services in that place.
