Colonel Barker's column fought a sharp action with a body of rebels at Mhala Hill, and inflicted numerous casualties upon them. The troops also captured eight hundred cattle and many goafs. Special precautions are being taken to avoid desecrating Oetawayo's grave. One of the rebel chief Siganandi's indunas has been sent to state that Siganandi and Ndabamuzu are anxious to surrender. Practically the whole of Siganaiuli's country has been captured, and the herds and women have been taken, though most: of the men have escaped into the bush. A Christian native, after travelling through Zululand, has informed the Natal Government that the natives in several parts of Zululand mean to rise simultaneously when the crops have been reaped.
