j ♦ i SENIOR TOURNAMENT, j Kanieri (4) v. Y.M.B.C. (I).—This ! match was played on Victoria Park . on Saturday afternoon, and, contrary | to general expectations, resulted in a i very easy win for the visiting team. ! Right from the commencement Kani--1 cri showed their superiority, though J at times, through the excellent play of McLean, Smith and Ring, the Y.M. I H.C.’s jmt in a direct challenge to this I Eujn-t'inacy, and on one occasion Smith 1 easily secured the coveted goal. In ■ anothev instance, the local team hard j pressed the visitors, hut a “mull” in--1 side the circle allowed Kanieri to ro- | Hove matters. Of the visitors be it : said that; although there was no exj eeptional brilliancy, there was a stoaI diness of play that soon told, while ! combination added materially towards b bringing about the desired result. Shaw and Owens, perhaps not up to ! last year’s form, played well for Kanieri, for whom several others were prominent at times. Throughout the game was played in excellent spirit, and the referee’s (Mr de Berry) decisions met willi approval from all. JUNIOR cur.' Trinity (11) v. Grey (0). —The roferreo (Mr 11. B. Burnett), who gavo general satisfaction, had little difficulty in this game, which was a “cake walk” for Trinity, who outclassed their opponents in all points. Greymoiith played a plucky game with nine men, but were not in it front start to finish.
