Lqn'rhs into ths circumstances surrounding the death of Jeremiah Driscol 1 , show ihat ho was in iho company of several persons at Henderson, including a wemrn named Alice Hautley who had been living with deceased bn the gold fl Ids. The woman refused to accompany D ise oil lo camp, and when Driscoll Ctr atened her a man named John Baxter in'etfered and threw Driscoll out of the door. Drhcoll threatened to kill Baxter with an axe if he came outside. Then, it appears, he left for his camp. Liter Driscoll was found on the track dead with a wound on his head evidently caused by a fall or a blunt instrument. There were no indications of a struggle. There is nothing on Baxter’s appearance to indicate his conncc.ion with the supposed crime. Baxter, when charged with the murder, refused to make any statement beyond that he struck the deceased on the night in question. Baxter was charged at the Police Court this morning, but was remanded pending an inquest this afternoon. Latrr, At the inquest touching the death of Jeremiah Driscoll, held to-day before T. Hutchison S.M., the jury returned the following verdict: “That Jeremiah Driscoll met his death in consequence of a blow wilfully delivered by John Baxter.’’ The foreman stated that the jury were of opinion that the murder was not premeditated. The coroner said that the intention of the man was presumed by the conscquenc s of what he did,
