BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTIONS.

To-day ono of the keenest municipal elections is now being fought in Groyrnoutb. For weeks past the candidates — 19 in number, rot one of the nominated having resigned—have been busy preparing for the fray and the sweet voices of the electors have been wooed on all sides. Not only havo the males heeii courted, but the ladies havo been warmly solicited, for the female franchise wilt have a powerful influence on the result of to-days election, and in many cases the ladies have mado up their minds to exercise their privileges independent of any controlling influence from their suppored lords and masters. In all directions, at the corners of the various streets, and in the neighborhood of the Court House and State School in particular, candidates were busy in their endeavors to gain support. Cards and circulars were circulated in abundance, every person on the roll receiving quite a sheaf of them. To show how much interest was excited we might mention that tjlte Post Office had to temporarily increase its delivery staff and the number of letters delivered run into many thousands.
