Duet, Miss Malloy and Mr Chinn ; Song, MKKeoghan and Company. PRESENTATIONS. During an interval in the concert, the Chairman presented some handsome trophies won by members of the Club in firing contests. The recipients were Messrs C. C'.urnow (2 , F. Field, F. Halt, and A. Diamond, and the donors were Messrs Brown and Kerr, Snodgrass and Son, G. Field, C. Curnow, and F. Simmiss. CALL AND SUPPER. The day’s proceedings were brought to a close with a most en jovable ball and supper, which was fairly well attended, and dancing was kept up with spirit until an early hour, to satisfactory music supplied by Messrs Keoghan and McNeil. Mr P. McKay was an efficient M.C. NEXT SATURDAY’S MATCH. On Saturday next, a team of “ shootisls” from Takaka will fire a match against the Aorere Club on the latter’s range, and keen interest is being taken in the coming contest.

AORERE DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. This Club had quite a “field” day at Rockville yesterday, commencing at 10.30 a.m. with rifle practise, and winding up in the early hours of this morning with a ball. SHOOTING. Quite a large squad of members of the Club assembled at the Range m the morning aud fired a match between the old aud the new members, which resulted in a wiu for the “ old bauds’’ by a margin of 43 points. Some very good individual scores were made, but the'firing as a whole was hardly up to standard, ['here was a fresh wind blowing, aud the weather was cold and showery. A private match between Messrs H. B. Riley aud J. Hickmott, the former winning by 4 points, and a scratch match between squads of six aside, helped to put in a long day’s useful practise. The Corps was in charge of the President, Mr G. Hickmott, senior. CONCERT. In the evening, at the Aorere Central Hall, the executive of the Club presented a very lengthy concert programme to a house crowded to the doors, notwithstanding that the heavy rain which set in about dark must have kept away some dozens of intending patrons, including quite a number from Collingwood. The efforts particularly of the Misses Malloy, Nalder aud Delaney, and Mr and Mrs Maden materially contributed towards the success of an eutertaiumeut which was of more than ordinary merit, and richly deserved the encomiums passed upon it. Mr G. H. Allan acted as Chairman, aud during the evening gave a short address on the usefulness of and uecessity for the effective military training of young meu in all communities, The programme included the fol* lowing items ; Pianoforte Solo, Miss Malloy ; Song, Mr H.
