This is the result of the discovery by three medical men, Dr It. P. Laidlaw, Dr C. H. Andrews and Dr W. Smith that human influenza can be transmitted by ferrets, thus bringing the disease within the range of experiment.

Alter recovery, ferrets were found to he immune from further infections during a period the length of which lias not yet been determined. A virus was also discovered which acts apparently as a primary infective agent in human influenza.
