'A GAME FIGHTER (Aust. and N.Z. Cable) London, February 27 At Cardiff in a, 15 round bout, Petersen defeated Harry Crossley, of Mexliorough, the referee stopping the fight in the tenth round. During the pluckiest display, in which he was severely punished, Crossley was repeatedly down for counts of eight an dnine in the later rounds. BOUT DECLARED NO CONTEST “I. declare it- no contest,” said the referee in stopping’ a 15-round bout at Hull between Eddie Peirce, the South African middleweight champion, and Teddie Phillips, the Canadian champion, in tlie eighth round lor evasive tactics. Addressing the audience he said : “The public pays to see boxing, and the referee is paid to see that they get boxing. These two men have exhausted my patience.”
