CONG H A TC CATIONS The Commissioner congratulated the officers on tin; splendid report*, saying that the good work done was a credit to the officers the Scouts f and the Cubs. The Mayor (Mr C. V. Taylor) also congratulated th eofficers and the Scouts and Cubs on the work, mentioning particularly the building of character which wn„ so important a, part of tin- Scout movement. Apart from the. home, the Churches and the schools, there was no organisation more* calculated to do goo dwrk in character building than, the Scout movements. Thanks were accorded all those wh w had helped the association and the officers and Scouts during the past year. THE JAMBOREE The Com mi. sioner reminded the meeting that the West Coast Jamboree won I<l l>e held at ‘‘Gra.ssmere/ ? C-olyton, beginning on Dec-ember 2d. lasting till January 2.1 L was an honour to Feilding to have had this district chosen as the location for tli<» Jamboree, and he hoped the Committee would give the officers good support, and that the local Scout troop would work up a good muster. Mr Buisfc said for the camp it was desired that Feilding should help with the vegetable supply and in other ways. A meeting of the Jamboree Committee would he held on Thursday afternoon, when further Information would be available. THE SHILLING LEVY Hcadqunrten.i notified that it had been found necessary to make a. levy cf one shilling pel* Scout and Cub on the register, as the Government subsidy had boon withdrawn. The meeting favoured the levy on ihe Scouts hut was of the opinion that thj' Cubs should not be included. It. wnj; agreed that each Snout should pay the lew and not that the Committee should find Ihe money
