DETAILS OF TIIE ACCIDENT HOW THE VICTIM WENT DOWN {Aust. and N.Z. Cable* Received March 20, 2 -p.m. Hobart, March 20. The aeroplane concerned in the fatality, reported on page 5, piloted by Mr Grant, was being used for photographic bombardment of the Isle Caves by the warship Australia. Messrs Grant and Eliott were thrown out before reaching the water, but Mr McGowan was trapped in the tail where he had been taking observations. He was carried under water. The machine struck the sea wKh terrific force. Other ’planes were immediately on the scene and picked up Messrs Grant and Elliott, who kept afloat despite their injuries. 1 They were transferred to the destroyer Anzac, which set out immeately at full speed for Hobart. t The machine was recovered and Mr McGowan’s body was found *n the tail.
