UNEMPLOYMENT
POSITION IN AMERICA NEVER SO SERIOUS AS NOW Ausf. and N.Z. Cable 1 Washington, March 19. Senator Wagner, testifying at the Commerce Committee’s inquiry into unemployment, declared that there had never been a situation so serious as at present. Breadlines stretched for blocks in the large cities, and many thousands of people were without food. Seasonal employment would probably occur in the month of May, but it would not produce a basic improvement.
