PEUSECUTION PROTEST NOISY GATHERING OF REDS (Aust. and N.Z. Cablet New Cork, March 16. A thousand worshipxrers of Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish faiths met and prayed in protest against the Soviet religions persecution, while twe.ve thousand Reds gathered in the Bronx Coliseum. At a meeting marked by blatant, noisy derision of religion, Red speakers called upon listeners to rally and defend the Soviet against “ihe Imperialists and their toils, the Pope, rabbis, and Socialists.”

Bishop Manning, addressing a great gathering in the Cathedral ot St. JOU.I the Divine, stated: “Never per hails in history lias there beei such an effort to blot out and destroj all religion from human life.” At a mass meeting in tile Tuwi Hall Representative Fish character ised the Soviet activities as “horriblt folly and criminal madness.”
