Business is slow' for this time of the year, when as a rule there is a fairly brisk demand for at least*n. few of the principal products. Perennial ryegrass is quoted at 7s 3d t° 7s fid between - merchants, but with little doing. Reports from Southland are that a satisfactory crop is promised and good seed is quoted at 6s 8d f.o.b. 5.1., Machine-dressed cocksfoot is quoted at 12Jd per lb. the equivalent of which is about 8d on t rucks Business is very restricted. There promises to ho a. good white clover crop this year. Round about 9d per lb on trucks is the average value. Red clotver, o*n account of the heavy carry' over and the low price last year, will be a shorter crop. Fanners are either feeding off 'or haying a good deal of the cron. Word from Southland is to the effect that the fescue crop has been a. fail - one., but a. lot of seed has been frosted and is light in weight, and expensive to- dioss. From lOd tc* lid, all for machine dressed, is quoted. There is a much smaller crop of crested dogtail in Southland than usual. Due. to the low price last year, the market is dull. The new crop is quoted at Bd. All f.o.b. wheat is coining forward in substantial quantities, and the. market is inclined to he a shade easier, though there is practically no quotable- change . Tuscan is worth 5s 8d on trucks. Fowl wheat is firm at os lOd f.o.b. The oat market is little changed. A Gartons are worth 3s llld f.o.b. 5.1.. .uni B’s 3s 8.1 (1.
