RUGBY BROADCASTS
“UNION HAS ALL TO GAIN” (Per Press Association) Palmerston North, March 18. “If is to be regretted that the New Zealand Rugby Union, the head of a wonderful amateur organisation, will consider £.s.d. in the matter of broadcasting fhe matches of fhe British touring team which is coining this season,” said the president of the Ma.na.wntu Rugby; District Council speaking af fhe annual meeting of that body to-night. “If; seems to me that the Rugby Union has everything to gain by publicity. It has much to be grateful for t° the Press, and I think we should encourage publicity by broadcasting. There-are many people in country districts who cannot see the games, and -they should be given an opportunity- of hearing the broadcast description. From fhe material aspect, too, fhe union has all to gain.
