Mr McGrath is acting on behalf uf .00 other members of the family, including several in New Zealand. Matthew Everingkam avus drowned in the Hawkeshury river, N.S.W., during tiie early part of the nineteenth century, and did not make claim to an inheritance of £200,000 which- Avas awaiting him in England. Tiie money has accumulated, until in 1925 it had reached £11,000,000, and now is £30,000,000. McGrath claims that he has documents proving that ho can trace his descent from Matthew Jaipcs Everingham and showing the line for 140 years. Jt was not until a few years ago that the finding of an old document in family papers revealed that money was awaiting the descendants of Everinglmm. A patient search for the remaining relatives ha« extended for two years, and when Mr McGrath left Sydney on November 20, he took with, him these papers and evidence of the family, to place before the authorities in England.
