GIVES UP LEADERSHIP RETURNING TO ENGLAND (Aust. and N.Z. Cabie) Berlin, Sept. 0. Commander Mary Rootli is retiring from the leadership of the Salvation Army.in Germany. She will be succeeded by Commander Friondrieh, a German,, who is head of the Salvation Army in Czecho Slovakia. Commander Mary Booth i s returning to London and will place herself at- the disposal of ■headquarters. Slic says she may resign from tli.e Army altogether. She says she is prepared to work under any General, whether lie German, English or Japanese. she says, hut the committee form of administration is totally unsuitable for Ibe Salvat ion Army. “Once meddle with tho military form and you inflict, a mortal blow to tli e whole organisation.” Whatever happens she will definitely decline to work under a committee.
