GANG WARFARE
v EIGHTS IN TOWN HALL AN APPEAL TO THE POLICE (Aust. and N.Z. Cable) Sydney, Sept- S. Remarkable, stories of gang warfare in [lie. Alexandria district with the Town Hall as battleground, were, told by aldermen at a meeting of* the council. One stated that 5:0 and the Mayor had been threatened and; he had applied for * permission to carry a revolver. On the last three occasions when functions were Reid in the Town Hall there had been serious fights, and the police had tosubdue them. Two men were taken t-o hospital as a result of the fig*l:)ts. Tlie council has decided to confer with the police for the protection of t.h© district from gangs.
