Mr Charles Palairet, jn his Majesty’s Diplomatic Service, has been appointed British Minister at Bucharest, in succession to Sir Robert Greg. The Subscribers Library Committee last njght passed a, motion expressing deep sympathy with Mr A. Farmer, librarian, and Mrs Farmer in the denth of their son, Eric. Mr T. P. Pain, of the staff of the* Wellington Magistrate’s Court,-, has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the Palmerston Courthouse stall, created by the deatlS of Mr H. W. Rrown. Mr E. R. Niccol, acting clerk of -the Feilding Court, has been transferred to Pahiafua as Clerk of the Court. Mr TWomas Hutchison, a former Stipendiary Magistrate, died in Oamaru yesterday at the age of 76. Born in Dunedin, Scotland, became to New Zealand in the early ’sixties, landing at Auckland. He finished his education at Otago University, and after studying law under his brother, Mr George Hutchison, M.H.R., he was admitted as a- barrister of the. Supreme Court by the Chief Justice in 1878.
