REMARKABLE ACCIDENT
HANDLE EMBEDDED IN ARM Mrs Frances Mapleston, 47, of George street. East Melbourne, was treated at Melbourne hospital for. an injury to her arm, caused jn a peculiar manner. When crossing Wellington street, she was struck by a motor car. and thrown heavily against the door of vehicle, the handle of which became embedded in her arm and snapped off. So deeply had the handle, which measured 4jn. in length and half an inch in width, entered the flesh that no effort was made at the time to remove it, the task being left to the hospital doctors. After being detained for several hours under observation, Mrs Mapleston was allowed to. return home.
