FAREWELL SOCIAL
TO THE REV. C. D. GARDINER
The farewell social to the Rev. C. D. .Gardiner was attended by. a large crowd and ai very enjoyable evening was spent. On Kite* platform were ministers representing the .Presbyterian and Methodist Churches and the Salvation Army. Musical items were rendered by members of the) ijPaimerston Baptist Church. The Rev. Crawshaw presided. The Rev. Mr Coring, of Wanganui. spoke on behalf of the Baptist Auxiliary and the Rev. Mr Copeand on behalf of the local Ministers’ Association, and on its behalf pi-o-sonted Mr Gardiner with ai fountain pen. Mr J. Wratt, on behalf of tlio congregation, presented to the guest of the evening 'a well filled wallet, suitably inscribed. Mr Gardiner, in responding, thanked everyone (and also ’the editor of tb,e Star) for kindness shown to him during his eleven years pastorate. The meeting concluded with prayer by the Rev. Mr Rimmer, of Wanganui East, after which an enjoyable supper was served by the ladies.
