PRIEST PROTESTS
AGAINST JUDGE’S VIEWS (Aust. and N.Z. Cable). Sydney, April 20. Father O’Gorman, the parish priest caused a scene at the West Maitland Circuit Court yesterday when he took exception to the remarks of -Mr «listico James who l had said he olten wondered whether skilled medical men should not be permitted to perform a certain operation as at the present time men who caused girls’ disgrace generally escaped scot free whereas the girl was faced with shame. Father O’Gorman rose in tho court and indignantly exclaimed: “1 publicly protest in the name of this town agimist your remarks for iogalis_ ing abortion. It is outrageous. It is the sort of thing done in the- slums of Turkey.” Judge. <-• lines replied, courteously: “I merely expressed my own opinion and you as a minister of religion must have wondered too.’ Father O’Gonmm without more ado left the court.
