A GALLANT MOTHER
A Maori woman of lr’gli rank, .[Rill ere Wi Warnia, died at the Judea Auckland, settle-men 1 on Sunday. The natives cairn that deceased was 101 years of age • Rahere was born in the Rotorua district and was a great, great grandmother. She belonged to a branch of the Arawa tribe and was a fine type of old Maori. One of her daughters was killed at Wairoa during the Tarawera eruption on June 10,HS8G but she held up her infant son with both hands and saved his life. The sou resides to-day in jhe .Tauranga distret.
