TOWNSHIP IMPROVEMENTS BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY. Air T. Stringer presided aL a meeting of llit; Tangimoaua Improvement and Beautifying Society held in All’s Lyons’ tea rooms, Tang-imoana. There was a record attendance ot members. Air Stringer slated that the, object of the meeting was to decide on hall site, to discuss the various tendons for material re same and to go thoroughly into the question ot finance. ■

All- Hern reported that he had received a letter from the Commissioner of Crown Lands offering a Crown Lands section in the original township for a hall site. It was left- in Air Hern’s hands to find out other particulars re this oiler- ■ Air G. Alsop ieported that aJI the tenders for material for t'he halt had been received, and that a most attractive' tender had just come to hand. It was decided to accept this tender and to place the oremr w>r material straight away. Air C. Fuller reported the result of the sub-committee’s interview with Air AleKelvie, and it was decided to place on. record the Society’s appreciation of the inestimable service rendered by Air Alclvelv ie.

Complaints wore received regarding damage to resident’s property owing to horses being allowed to wander over the township, and it was decided to place the matter before the Alauawatu County Council. , Messrs Coleman and Small also spoke regarding- this matter, and suggested that the owners of the horses be interviewed and an amicable settlement made.

Mr Alarston said that the running track needed rolling;- and suggested that a suitable roller be made. It was resolved to leave the matte--- rn Al.r, Afarston’s hands. . Air T. Stringer, who has been acting chairman since Air Yarrall’s resignation was received, expressed bis regret at being unable to continue in the office owing to pressure of business. Mr A. J. Hern was then unaniinous'ly- elected chairman Sind Air C. Fuller secretary.

Air Hern thanked the members for the honour conferred upon him and said ho would do his utmost to promote the in terns,t of the Society and well are of the Taugimoaiui community. He considered that there was a great future for the district, and said that if the members would work together in the luture as they have dono in the past nothing could prevent Tangiinoana from becoming one of the leading seaside resorts in New Zealand.
