ALCOHOL FOR SYNTHETIC LIQUOR CORK INDUSTRY Now York Dec. 28. Prohibitionists have arrested 40 persons and charged them with the illegal sale oi' alcohol to synthetic dis. tillers. Among them was a pretty young girl, dressed - most expensively, though she followed the occupation of sales girl in. a departmental store. She is reported to have been earning £2OO a day by selling alcohol. Another interesting sidelight on enforcement is contained in official statistics. During the year 192-3, 60,000,000 gross of bottle corks were manufactured iu the United States.'
