After following a .man whom lie had seen displaying bank notes to the value of £-12 in an hotel at Otahuhu on, Monday, a Maori named 'foe Pore made a sudden attack and' decamped with the money. The owner was proceeding along P.rinco’s Street when the Maori overtook him and engaged him in conversation. Pc re then-made a swift grab at the man’s waistcoat and secured the notes. Hue and cry was raised, and Pere was pursued across country until ho disappeared an hour later Constable Pollard was riding a bicycle in Panmuro Road when he say a hatless Maori hoard a bus for the city. The constable gave chase and alter a furious pedalling he caught up with the bus. The Maori had then' only £l7 in his possession; and would not admit that there was any more in the roll lie had seized. When charged with the theft in the Otahuhu Police Court the Maori pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
