BEAUTIFYING THE STREETS

MORE TREE-PLANTING PROPOSED. A meeting; of' friends and supporters of the Beautifying Society is to he called shortly for toe purpose of arranging to plant ornamental trees in various streets in the borough. If this work is to be done in the coming winter, it would lie well to set to work at once, sort out the streets to he planted, decide on the trees* and select the best method of raising the funds necessary.

It is hoped that residents in each street will group themselves and undertake the planting of thei r respective avenues. Tin's pla n ha* been adopted in several streets, with success.

Might we here suggest that in those streets which have been planted. in the last year or two, where the trees are vet young, the residents should give a little attention to the trees nearest their own places. A| bucket of water after sunset and a little weeding will give the trees new hope and vigour.
