BAY OF PLENTY ROADS UPOTIKI SEEKS FREE GRANT Opotiki County Council applied to the Minister for Public W ( >rk s for a straight out grant of £2OOO to repair damage to tlie eounty roads. The MinisteV replied that Cabinet had decided to grant £l-100 free money and £337 LOs on a ffl loi £1 basis.
The council resolved to point out to the Minister that the grant applied for was mainly fur the purpo.se of repairing roads damaged by. floods, which roads served Crown, settlers, and to ask him to grant tlie amount free money.
