THE CRUISER BUILDING QUESTION. MINISTERS SEEKING A COMPROMISE. By Electalc Caole —Copyright. Auat. and N.Z. Cable association Loudon, July 19. The Daily Express says : Ministers are seeking a'compromise on the cruiser question. Probably an agreement will be reached without resignations. The Committee of tho Cabinet suggests a saving which will eventually be at least four millions a year, by reducing the pay of future recruits to the army to the extent, of 20 per cent., the navy 15 per cent., and the air force 10 per cent.
