lIOW IT STANDS NOW , (Per Press Association.) Wellington, Aug. 21. The amount of the Public Debt of New Zealand, as at March 31, 1924, i.s estimated by the Controller and Auditor-General (Colonel G. F. C. Campbell) at £121,395,106. The actual average net rate of interest earned during the past throe years lias been ascertained to be £4.443969 per cent per annum. The sum required to be invested .each year at compound interest at 4.442969 per cent. per annum, which would wipe off the debt in 75 years, the auditor-Goneral points out, is £210.315.
