Because a young woman rejected liis advances he dragged her from a shop by her hair ami cut tier throat. He fchciij slashed out at every passing woman, killing one and injuring two others. His conduct at tho trial Wi<s most cynical. Bo expressed no regret for th'3 crimes, and met his death with utmost .stoicism. He refused brandy and simply turned to the onlookers and said "Good bye, all!" Immediately prior to Ihe execution he was baptised in the Christian faith.
