A representative meeting of business men pledged themselves to take immediate action to .secure regular employment for all fit returned men And fitting work for maimed ones., Tlier appointed a working committee and" subscribed £IOOO to provide sustenance for needy soldiers while employment was being secured. The Lord Mayor promptly suppressed an attempt to utilise the meeting for political purposes. ACTION IN ENGLAND. London, May 18. The Government has appointed a Parliamentary committee to report upon the system adopted by other countries to provide employment for disabled ex-service men.
