HOPEFUL OUTLOOK ONCE MORE (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Aust.-N.Z. Cable Association.) London, May 17. Hon. W. C. Bridgeman, presenting the Mines estimates in the House of Commons, said the outlook for metalliferous mines was most gloomy, but for coal mines, most hopeful. Coal exports to overy country outsido Europe during the first quarter of 1922 exceeded 1913 figures. In exports to Western Europe, they were only six per cent below 1913. Fewer men wero now employed, but the output por capita was much higher, despite the seven hour day. Tho industry was ready to take advantage of any general trade recovery.
