Speaking at the Graziers' Board Convention, Mr Chaffey said that for some time the costs of the production and marketing of primary industries had been prohibitive, and an adjustment was necessary to onable producers to compete with other countries. Ho sympathised with the cattlemen, who were getting about a penny per pound for their meat, which was selling in the retail shops at tenpenco.
