FAMINE IN RUSSIA.
DR. NANSEN’S APPEAL. (By Electric Cabin—Copyright.) (Auut.-N.Z. Cable Association.) Geneva, May 16. Dr. Nansen, on behalf of the Norwegian Government, addressing the League of Nations Council, demanded the creation of a special body to deal with famine and disease conditions in Russia, which rendered vain all hope of his collaborating in the economic recovery of the country until they were improved. The Council decided to send Dr. Nansen’s report to the Genoa Conference.
