ARRESTED
- TWO GERMAN BANKRUPTS. (By Electric Cable— Copyright.) (Aust.-N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received May 18, noon.) Havana, May 17. Following the failure for 10 million dollars recently of tho Cuban-German Banking House of Upmann and Co., the brothers Upman have been arrested by tho secret police. This action followed an investigation by the Banking Commission, on which the United States was represented. . The bank examiners discov--ered an item in tho bankrupts’ books showing • that- more than a million dollars had been spent in Washington in an attempt to regain, tho properties of Upmann in America taken ovqr by the United Stntas Alien Property Custodian.
