MEETING OF MANAWATU RUGBY UNION.

The regular weekly meeting of the .Management Committee of the Manawatu ltugby Union was held last night, Mr A. M. Ongley occupying the chair. It was resolved that the date, 24th June, for a representative match between the Horowlienua and Manawatu teams, be confirmed. It was decided to write to the Bush Union informing it that Manawatu could not seo its way to play a representative match this season. The North Canterbury- Union wrote accepting August 30 as the date of i game between their representatives md Manawatu, to be played at Palmerston North. The Ranghikei Sub-Union wrote asking for a game with the Manawatu senior and third grade representatives. —It was found unable to arrange for 'a date. Permission wag granted the schools of Palmerston North to play a seven-i-sido tournament on the 'Showgrounds on Wednesday, May 31, for the purpose of rai. Owing to the poor response. shown liy the town teams in entering for the seven-a-side tournament, it was agreed to extend the closing of entries until Tuesday next. Entries received to date are as follows: Feilding Club, a senior and a junior team; Old Boys one senior and two junior teams; Jackeytown, a senior team; Tokomnru, Varsity (Wellington), and (Junnythorpe, a junior team each. West End was the only team to enter for the schools’ competition. It was decided to write to the Auckland Union inviting it to-allow its touring team to play in Palmerston North, and offering it 150 per cent, of [ the nett gate receipts.
