A RECORD EXPORTATION.

A witty public man in Wellington, speaking at the civic reception given in that city to Rosina Buckman, New Zealand’s only prima donua, made a very happy hit when he remarked that wo had created a new lino in exportations: New Zealand had a prima donna among its exports! The latter well deserved the great reception she received from the musiclovers, statesmen, and the City Council in Wellington. Only those who are intimato with her career realise «rhat a tremendous triumph is Rosina Buckman’s to have reached the apex of the musical world, so that it has been said of her by the world’s greatest singer, Dame Melba, that the New Zealander will bo a worthy successor to herself (Melba). Tho ex-Apitian is a very New Zealander of New Zealanders, for both her parents were born in the Dominion, and she was born in Blenheim. The record of her vocal achievements is. highly interesting, as will bo seen by a perusal of the articlo wliicli we publish on page 4of to-day’s issue. It is hoped that the prima donna, who opens her tour in Auckland next Saturday night, will find time to visit Tedding, where she would get a right royal welcome. When the question was put to her on the Feilding station yesterday afternoon, she roplied: “I will send a message from Auckland regarding niy decision.” We are sure Feilding and Apiti folks await that decision with interest.
