CROSSING FATALITY.
ELDERLY MAN STRUCK BY ENGINE. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, May 16. Ernest Arnold, a single man, aged 62, was killed at the Sockburn railway crossing bv the south express tonight. Arnold, who suffered severely from rheumatism, was walking across the crossing, and evidently failed to see the incoming train, owing to nnsl and rain. Tlio express was twenty minutes late, which probably caused Arnold to keep a less careful watch.
