Local critics, in .their comment _ on the play of the New Zealand ladies tennis team, say these players seem tj fall short of tha high standard of the 1909 team 4 but they had hardly a fair chance in the earlier games. Thoy arrived only three days beforo the matches commenced, which did not give them a chance to get back to form, and thoy met the very strong Victorian team to start with. Miss Curtis, however, fully justified the glowing comments on her prowess. The variety in her play and the judgment shown were, excellent. As the matches have advanced the team's play was steadily improved.
