BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.

DISCUSSED BY ANGLICAN SYNOD. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, April 28. At the Anglican Synod, Canon James moved: "This Synod being persuaded that tho greater part of the citizens of the Dominion regard tho lack of provision for religious instructioh in State schools as a grievous loss to tho children and tho community, calls for such an amondmentdf tho Education Act that Bible instruction, according to tho London County Council or other agreed syllabus, shall bo given in State schools during ordinary school hours by school teachers, subject to the conscientious objections of parents and teachers to this instruction being always respected, and that there be no statutory right of entry to ministers of religion or others to give religious teaching in schools were the. proposed provision is made."
