LOCHELLA WINS. (Per Press Association..) Auckland, June 8. The Auckland Hacing Club?s winter meeting continued to-day. A heavy fog hung over the course early in the day, but cleared before the first race, and there was a large attendance. The totalisator receipts were £65,155. Results :— : Hunt Club Steeplechase.—Tptara Jack (Rennie) 1, Maira 2, Mestee- 3. Also started: Southland. Koura and Cowboy. Won. by ten lengths. Time, 6.54. Southland and Koura fell, Ranfurly Handicap.—Royal Abbey 1, Demoiselle 2,";Ngata 3. Also started: Khublai Khan, Marble' Slab, Eead Sweet,' Scottish' Knight, Tuipa, Monocrat, Ohiti, North Loburn, Golden Petal, Texas Lass, Nunerrant, and Octoplete. Won by~ three-quarters of a length, half a length between second and third. Time, 1.47 3-5. Remuera Hurdle Race.—Kauri King 1, llekanui 2, Gluetanus 3. Also started: Thrace and Pendoon. Half a length each way. Time, 4.1. Great Northern Steeplechase.—Lochella 1, Slowcoach 2, Old Mungindi 3. Also, started: No Surrender, Gladfiil, Osiiahu, Tenacious, Peneton, Golden Glow and. Garryoweii. Slowcoach, and Garryowen were in the van when they went up the hill the last time, and the latter .fell. Lochella, who had been running well back in the early stages, challenged, and coming along in fine style, cut down the fightweight and won by two and a half lengths.
