Mr Claude Haigh was in Feilding to-day making arrangements for the Gertrude Johnson Concert Company, which appears in Feilding on Friday, the 11th inst. A London cable message states that Mr Low, the well known clever New Zealand and Australian cartoonist, who was on the staff; of the Sydney Bulletin, but has been a high-salaried cartoonist of a London paper, Oias married Miss Madeline Kenning, an Auckland artist. The Prime Minster's list of Birthday honours includes Sir James Elliott, 'Engineer Adviser to the New Zealand Government, who has been made a Knight of the British Empire. Mr W. S. Percy, the popular comedian (one of the original Pollard juveniles of New Zealand) who is now firmly established as one of London's most popular music-hall .artists, contemplates an early visit to Australia and New Zealand —if his five-years-ahead engagements will allow it. Mr John Prouse, of Wellington, holds a unique record in the domain of oratorio. It is very doubtful if there are many baritone vocalists living who could boaet that they have sung the α-ole of the prophet in Mendelssohn's "Elijah" 53 times in about 40 years. He has sung the strenuous music not only in Kew Zealand centres and sub-centres, but also in Sydney, Melbourne, and on one occasion in the Albert Hall, London, where his fine interpretation (the fruit of special study under the late Sir Charles' Santley 'and Sir Henry Wood) commanded attention.
