ITALIAN TOBACCO PRICES
- Rome. Once more the Government has had to raise the price of tobacco. An official announcement from the Ministry of Finance confesses that, in addition to purposes of revenue, the reason for the increase is a desire to '•educe consumption in vieiv of the difficulty m obtaining material to meet the demand.
Previous increases in price have not ha r l this effect. Tho two most popular items, the Toscan cigar and the Macedonia cigarette, have risen respectively during the war, roughly, from Id to 3d each, and from 3d to lOd a box of 10.
