E. V. Freed, awarded the Military Cross, is a son of Mir E. Freed, bridge engineer, Otago. He was born in Ghristohurch.

Mr J. H. Anderson, Acting-Swe-dish Con_ul-in-Chief for Australasia, is at present making a tour to all the Swedish Consulates in tho Dominion.

■Captain J. Garfield iCrawford, a recipient of the Military Cross, is an old Timaru boy. He left the Dominion as senior medical officer with the First Battalion of the Rifle Brigade.

Mr F.. V. Knappjhead teacher of the Nelson Girls' Central School, has received word that his eldest son, Sergeant Russell Knapp, was killed in action. He was 21 years of age.

Second-Lieutenant Athol R. M'Isaac, New Plymouth, has been awarded the Military Cross for gallantry at Messines.
