ARTIFICIAL LIMBS.
PROVISION FOR SOLDIERS.
London, May 4. Six thousand soldiers have been provided by the Government with artificial limbs, aird most of these men have been treated at Roehanipton -and Brighton. The price charged by private manufacturers is regarded as too high, and the Government is being urged to undertake the manufacture. Major Chappie, P.A.M.C., M.P., is taking the matter up, but at present the Government are reluctant. In the case of an officer thus disabled he is given £25 with which to buy the artificial limb, and the makers are cliargini' some of these officers up to £4.0. It is calculated that if the Ministry of Munitions took over this manufacture the artificial limbs could bo made for £5 apiece.
