The Anglican Upner House of Convocation passed a I'esolution in favour of the State purchase of the liquor trade because it would give the public the control of the manufactui'e and sale of intoxicante. The Bishops of Lincoln and London opposed the motion. The Archbishop of Canterbury approved of it, because it would give the Church an opportunity of participating in the control of the trade.
