Sydney, August 17
Two men wero arrested in connection with tho forgery of Commonwealth Bank £5 notes, a number of which were recently discovered in circulation. The prosecution stated, that it is believed £3000 worth have been circulated and only a few recovered. OVER-ESTIMATED GOLD-RUSH.
Hobart, August 17. The first reports- of the gold find were over-estimated. Later tests give an average of one ounce, five pennyweights per ton. Tho reef is three feet wide.
