KAISER.
SAYS "GO TO CHURCH, EVERY-
BODY!"
Amsterdam, August 16
The Cologne Gazette says that the Kaiser, when visiting Cologne, acknowledged the crowd's salutations from a train window. He said : "Go to church, everybody, and pray for victory and an honourable peace!"
The Kaiser's chief chaplain, Dr Dryander, has returned from the west front. He preached an indignant sermon in the Berlin Cathedral, denouncing the so-called "grumble" of wives. He declared that criticisms and disputings were imperilling Germany, and especially denounced the complaints of dear food and short rations, and the recriminations between Prussia and BavanVi. Tbe Kaiser had clearly inspired the sermon. London, August IG. The King and the Kaiser visited the Somme front simultaneously. Hysterical accounts are given of the Kaiser bestowing .blessings and iron crosses on the parades, in contrast with the nuet confidence shown in the King's visit.
